Founded in 1987, Alpine Audio is a hobby that became a business. I have always been interested in stereo equipment, and while in the Air Force in upstate New York I discovered there was a whole new world of performance I was not aware of. Names like Quad, Grado, conrad-johnson, Linn and Eminent Technology were foreign to me, as was Stereophile and The Absolute Sound. This was the first high end system I had ever heard. It was a revelation!  My records sounded like I had never heard them.  And so began my journey into high end audio. While still in New York, I began sending letters to manufacturers inquiring about the possibility of representing their lines. My family and I were preparing to move back to Virginia, and I wanted to start there. It all began with David Berning, my first line. Piece by piece, I sold the stereo I had accumulated and replaced it with new equipment, and thus began my audio shop.

Next came home theaters, and almost immediately custom installation...

Here at Alpine Audio you will find a no-nonsense, straight forward approach to doing business. I have never felt the need to sugar coat opinions about A/V gear. After all, it all boils down to personal preferences, opinions, and system matching. Sometimes these opinions run counter to popular trends or the amp-of-the-month, but in the long run I find that experience prevails over a review in a magazine.
